about Us

We have just recently set up this venture having finished university at Oxford Brookes. Having spent some time training in the wall over the course of our degrees and becoming interested in climbing we felt that the opportunities for the young people in Oxfordshire to become involved in the sport were less than in other counties.

By increasing the availability of competent, focused teaching niche sports such as climbing can have the place they deserve amongst the population.

All involved in instruction at Oxford Adventure believe that climbing has many benefits to whatever stage of life you’re in. By increasing the adventure and challenge to ourselves we find that our minds become more active. Responsibility and trust are other key areas that we aim to pass on to all who we teach.

The Team

All our instructors are keen and experienced climbers across all the disciplines which we instruct upon. All have plenty of experience teaching climbing to adults and children and can take all the best bits and give it to you!

We value the challenge of getting people involved with climbing where they can enjoy all the parts of it we do…. the travel, adventure and satisfaction of it all!

Tom G

Tom has been climbing for 10 years. He started at school in Somerset and followed on at university as president of the university’s club. Tom enjoys traditional slab climbing the most as it is here he can put his technical footwork skills to best use and his head for exposure. Tom has climbed all over the world and brings great experience in teaching to Oxford Adventure.

Tom H

Tom is from Bath and has been climbing for the last 3 years since joining the Oxford Brookes University club where he could be considered the most enthusiastic member. Tom’s passion is for traditional climbing although he can be spotted bouldering in the evenings. Lucky Tom also travels to Provence for a couple of months of the year to clip bolts in the sunshine.

Michael

Mike has been teaching climbing to children for 2 years – you may have seen him taking children’s parties recently. Mike is a boulderer at heart having been seduced by a trip to Fontainebleau in the summer of 2005. Having just recently retuned from a trip to the Alps he now has a new interest in multi-pitch sport routes – shame there isn’t any in this country!
